Taux de taxe de vente des États américains 2025

Sales tax rates vary significantly across US states. Five states — Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon — collect no state-level sales tax at all, making them popular destinations for large purchases. On the other end of the spectrum, states like California (7.25%), Indiana (7%), Mississippi (7%), Rhode Island (7%), and Tennessee (7%) have among the highest base rates.

Keep in mind that local municipalities often add their own taxes on top of the state rate. For example, while California's state rate is 7.25%, Los Angeles county adds extra local taxes bringing the combined rate above 10%. This calculator uses base state rates only — check your local rate for the most precise figure.

Comment calculer la taxe de vente

Adding sales tax to a price is straightforward: multiply the pre-tax price by the tax rate (as a decimal) to get the tax amount, then add it to the original price. For example, a $100 item in Massachusetts at 6.25% tax results in $6.25 of tax and a $106.25 final price.

To reverse-calculate (remove tax from a total), divide the gross price by (1 + tax rate). So if you paid $106.25 and the rate is 6.25%, the pre-tax price is $106.25 ÷ 1.0625 = $100.00. This is useful when you have a receipt total and want to know the base price before tax was applied.
