Frequently asked questions

Provide a square PNG or SVG at minimum 512x512 pixels. SVG is ideal because it is resolution-independent. Square dimensions are essential — non-square images will be cropped or distorted. The design should work at very small sizes (16x16): avoid fine details and thin lines that disappear when scaled down. Simple, bold designs with high contrast work best as favicons.
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Force-refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R (hard reload) to bypass cache. Or open DevTools, go to Network, check "Disable cache," and reload. In Chrome, you can right-click the tab and select "Reload" to force favicon refresh. If deployed on a live site, the cache may persist for hours or days for returning visitors — add a version query string to the favicon link tag.
